Firmware


Although firmware flashing is still in beta, it has proven to be quite reliable. We can not guarantee succes yet nor can we guarantee it will not be bricked. Currently firmware flashing is only available on Android. We are working on a solution for customers on desktops.

Flashing your meCoffee to the newest firmware will restore all settings to factory defaults.

The procedure:

– Close all running App’s or reboot your phone / tablet

– Get in front of your machine, as close as possible

– Make sure your espresso machine is turned on

– Open meBarista and wait for it to connect automatically

– Navigate to settings / hardware / firmware

– Confirm your current installed firmware reads meCoffee pcb V4 pcb V7

– Enable the firmware update

– Select the newest firmware

Now, do not move.

meBarista switches back to the home screen. At the left upper corner:

Firmware intent appears

Starting firmware upload appears

Start reset signalling appears : now your boiler light should turn off / blink

Reconnecting appears, this is the start of the actual firmware upload and your boiler light should stay off

If it works:

version: 1.16 and signature: 1E950F appears

flashing: please wait… appears

– Be patient, flashing takes about 30 seconds

Programmed 26144 of 26144 bytes appears, the firmware upload finished

Ended firmware upload appears

meBarista will automatically reconnect to your meCoffee after about 10 seconds. You can confirm succes by navigating to settings / hardware / firmware and checking the reported running version as meCoffee pcb V9. Also, there are changes to the Hardware, PID, Timers and Preinfusion settings. If you somehow do not like the update, you can revert by flashing the legacy firmware.

If it does not work:

not in sync: minor|major version appears

meBarista will automatically reconnect to your meCoffee after about 10 seconds. Try again at least 5 times. If it has not worked after several retries, change the ‘Flash timing’ to 1000ms and try again several times. If this did not help, try 500ms.

If you decide to flash your firmware, please let us know about the result. We would like to know who succeeds and we will offer support when something went wrong. If your device bricks, we will replace.

All meCoffee’s shipped from 1 May 2017 onwards have the newest firmware preinstalled.
